Excited about Komodo 4    Nov 08, 2006 16:31

Just a quick blog post to say that I'm really excited about ActiveState's Komodo 4. Javascript debugging in an IDE is exactly what I want. I know I'll be upgrading.

You can read more here.

"With this release, Komodo's advanced dynamic language support is extended to client-side AJAX languages, including JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and XML. The result is a unified environment for framework stacks like Ruby on Rails and CakePHP, and client libraries such as the Yahoo! UI Library and Dojo, supported by new tools including DOM Viewer, HTTP Inspector, UDL (User Defined Language) templates, secure remote file support, revamped project support, and even greater extensibility."

Check out more details here.

To be able to develop Ruby on Rails applications with integrated javascript debugging of Dojo kicks so much ass I can't even tell you. ;) I hope that they'll support Rails debugging through Mongrel and make it faster than the crawl it is currently. Ideally, debugging both simultaneously while watching the HTTP traffic would be perfect...it sounds like this is what they intend to deliver, I just hope they can execute.

Go ActiveState!
